Robert Frank - The Americans


Robert Fraank is an american photographer which is famous for his photobook titled The Americans. He travelled across America, taking pictures of many cultural and social aspects of that time, being able to capture the realities and the racial differences of the american people. He used his pictures not only to create a narrative but to show a more realistic perspective of the american citizens.
The visual aspect of the photography is dirty, grainy and sometimes overexposed. The pictures were shot with a Leica 3c camera which is a 35mm rangefinder camera.
Mauricio Lima
In 2010, Time Magazine awarded Mauricio Lima,a Brazilian photographer, as the "Wire Photographer of the Year".

He spent a month in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and captured portraits of the military force, the war zone and Afghan citizens. His work is defined by a almost desaturated colour pictures and a very cold visual style.
In this picture for example, the colour vibrance is very low, the ISO is around 200-400, and the shutter speed around 1/100.
Don McCullin
A famous British photojournalist well known for his war photography.

This picture was taken durin the War in Vietnam. It's a very good example of a decisive moment, when a soldier is killed during the war. The colour is desaturated and the shutter speed is around 1/50.
